A staff member or member of staff works for a company or organization that employs several other people at least. However, employee is used most often for talking about employees in general, especially their terms and conditions of employment. When referring to individuals and the work that they do, it is more usual to use staff member or member of staff. see also staff ⇨ staffworker2

A workman usually does building or repair work. You can talk about both skilled and unskilled labourers/workmen, but in general a workman is more likely than a labourer to be skilled and to use machinery or technology. For example, a builder could be called a workman; a builder's labourer is sb who helps a builder, doing the less skilled jobs.
